The K. van Bourgondien company started in Holland as a grower of fine flower bulbs, selling to local merchants and horticulture professionals throughout the region. The company earned a reputation for offering healthy, high-quality bulbs—all reliable bloomers—at a fair price. Not only that, but K. van Bourgondien began to be recognized as selling the best new flower varieties on the market.

The introduction to the American market came after the turn of the century when Karl C. van Bourgondien realized the great demand for Dutch bulbs in the United States. The idea for a mail-order company based in the U.S. was what propelled the family company into international fame for their outstanding variety, exceptional quality and reliable performance.

Today, the K. van Bourgondien company is still considered one of the best purveyors of fine Dutch bulbs in the world.
