How to Plant Ranunculus Bulbs

Select a spot in the garden that receives full sun to partial shade. The ideal soil for ranunculus is well-drained, sandy and slightly acidic. Before planting, soak the ranunculus corms for 3-4 hours in warm water. Plant the corms 4" deep and 4" apart. The "claws" on the corms should be pointing downward.

When to Plant Ranunculus Bulbs

Ranunculus corms can be planted in the fall in warmer climates or in the spring in cooler climates. In zones 6 and north, start the bulbs indoors in the spring for best results.

How to Grow Ranunculus

Ranunculus perform best in climates with cool nights and sunny, but not hot, days. They grow best when the soil around the crown is dry, but the roots are moist.

How Long do Ranunculus Bloom

Ranunculus bloom for about six weeks. Usually those planted in the fall flower a bit longer than those planted in early spring.
